Description

A delightful no-bake dessert that combines salty and sweet flavors with a crunchy pretzel crust, creamy filling, and fruity topping.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 oz strawberry Jell-O mix
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 16 oz strawberries (fresh or frozen, hulled & sliced)
  • 2 1/2 cups salted pretzels (measured before crushing)
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 3 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 8 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 8 oz Cool Whip (thawed in refrigerator)

Instructions

  1. Start by boiling 2 cups of water. In a mixing bowl, add the 6 oz package of strawberry Jell-O mix.
  2. Pour the boiling water over the Jell-O mix. Stir well until the Jell-O granules are completely dissolved.
  3. Add in the sliced strawberries into the mixture, stirring gently to combine.
  4. Let the mix cool for a bit before transferring it to the refrigerator. Allow it to set for about 2 hours.
  5. Prepare the pretzel crust while the Jell-O layer is chilling. Start by crushing the salted pretzels into small pieces.
  6. Melt the 3/4 cup of butter on low heat in a medium saucepan.
  7. Remove from heat and stir in the crushed pretzels and 3 tbsp of granulated sugar until combined.
  8. Press this mixture firmly into the bottom of a greased 9×13 inch baking dish, ensuring it’s evenly spread and compact. Let it cool.
  9. Beat the softened cream cheese with an electric mixer until smooth.
  10. Gradually add in the 1/2 cup of granulated sugar and mix until fully incorporated.
  11. Fold in the 8 oz of Cool Whip gently, ensuring it’s combined but still fluffy.
  12. Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the pretzel crust once the Jell-O has set.
  13. Pour the strawberry Jell-O mixture on top of the cream cheese layer and return the dish to the refrigerator. Let it chill for at least another 2 hours.

Notes

This dessert is best served chilled. Cut it into squares and garnish with fresh strawberries or a dollop of whipped cream.
