Ingredients

1 box vanilla or funfetti cake mix (plus ingredients listed on the box)

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

3 cups powdered sugar

23 tbsp heavy cream or milk

1 tsp vanilla extract

Red or pink food coloring (optional)

Brach’s Conversation Hearts or Brach’s Valentine’s Jelly Hearts (for topping)

Sprinkles (optional)


Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with 12 cupcake liners.

2. Prepare cake mix according to package instructions and fill liners 2/3 full.

3. Bake for 18–20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

4. Cool completely before frosting.

5. For the frosting, beat butter until smooth and creamy.

6. Gradually add powdered sugar, mixing on low speed.

7. Add vanilla and cream, then whip until light and fluffy.

8. Tint with red or pink food coloring if desired.

9. Pipe or spread frosting onto cooled cupcakes.
