Description

A lighter take on the classic Philly Cheese Steak using juicy chicken, melted cheese, and sautéed vegetables for a mouthwatering meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup shredded provolone cheese
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Hoagie rolls or sandwich bread

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and sauté sliced onions and green bell peppers for 5-7 minutes until softened.
  2. Remove the vegetables from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, cook the chicken breasts for 6-8 minutes on each side until browned and cooked through.
  4. Once cooked, let the chicken rest for a few minutes and then slice it into thin strips.
  5. Add the sliced chicken back into the skillet, add the cream cheese, and stir until melted and combined.
  6. Mix in the sautéed vegetables and cook together for a couple of minutes.
  7. Fill hoagie rolls or sandwich bread generously with the chicken mixture.
  8. Top with shredded provolone cheese and, if desired, bake at 350°F (175°C) for 5-10 minutes until cheese melts and bread is crispy.
  9. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

For extra flavor, consider adding garlic powder or your favorite spices. You can also customize with different cheeses or additional vegetables.
