- 12 ounces short pasta, such as rotini, shells, or elbow macaroni
- 2 cans tuna, drained well
- 3/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup Greek yogurt or sour cream
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 2 celery stalks, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup red onion, finely chopped
- 3/4 cup peas, thawed if frozen
- 1/4 cup chopped dill pickles or 2 tablespoons relish
- 1 tablespoon fresh dill or parsley, chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper, or to taste
Instructions
- Cook the Pasta: Start by bringing a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the short pasta of your choice, stirring occasionally. Cook until the pasta is just tender, typically about 8 to 10 minutes.
- Cool the Pasta: After cooking, drain the pasta well in a colander. Rinse it briefly under cool water to stop the cooking process.
- Prepare the Dressing: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, Greek yogurt or sour cream, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, salt, and black pepper.
- Add the Tuna: Open the cans of tuna and drain them thoroughly. Flake the tuna gently with a fork and add to the dressing.
- Incorporate the Veggies: Add the chopped celery, red onion, thawed peas, chopped pickles, and herbs. Stir gently.
- Combine with Pasta: Add the cooled pasta to the mixing bowl and fold everything together until well mixed.
- Taste and Adjust: Taste and adjust the seasoning as necessary.
- Chill Before Serving: Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving.
Notes
Serve with a squeeze of lemon or additional mayonnaise for freshness. Pairs well with crusty bread or a green salad.
