  • 1 large onion (thinly sliced)
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce (low-sodium)
  • 1/2 cup beef broth (homemade)
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Slice the beef: Thinly slice 1 pound of flank or sirloin steak against the grain.
  2. Prepare the vegetables: Slice 2 cups of mixed bell peppers and 1 large onion into thin strips.
  3. Heat the skillet: Pour 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil into a heated skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Cook the steak: Add the seasoned steak to the skillet and cook for about 3-4 minutes, until browned.
  5. Add onions and peppers: Toss in the sliced onions and bell peppers, cooking for another 3 minutes.
  6. Make the sauce: In a small bowl, combine 1/4 cup soy sauce, 1/2 cup beef broth, and 1 tablespoon cornstarch.
  7. Combine everything: Pour the sauce over the beef and vegetables, cooking for another 2-3 minutes to thicken.
