- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups warm water
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh rosemary
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
Instructions
- In a large bowl, add the flour, salt, sugar, and yeast. Mix until combined.
- Slowly add warm water while stirring until a rough dough forms.
- Mix in the chopped rosemary and minced garlic until evenly distributed.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm space for 1-2 hours until doubled in size.
- Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C) 30 minutes before the dough is ready.
- Punch down the dough, shape it into a loaf, and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Let the shaped loaf rest for another 30 minutes.
- Score the top of the loaf with a sharp knife.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and hollow when tapped.
- Cool on a wire rack before slicing and serving.
Notes
For enhanced flavor, consider using high-quality, fresh ingredients. If using whole wheat flour, add more water as needed.
