Description

Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh rosemary
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, add the flour, salt, sugar, and yeast. Mix until combined.
  2. Slowly add warm water while stirring until a rough dough forms.
  3. Mix in the chopped rosemary and minced garlic until evenly distributed.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm space for 1-2 hours until doubled in size.
  6. Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C) 30 minutes before the dough is ready.
  7. Punch down the dough, shape it into a loaf, and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  8. Let the shaped loaf rest for another 30 minutes.
  9. Score the top of the loaf with a sharp knife.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and hollow when tapped.
  11. Cool on a wire rack before slicing and serving.

For enhanced flavor, consider using high-quality, fresh ingredients. If using whole wheat flour, add more water as needed.
