Description

Rich, creamy, and utterly romantic — this Cheese Fondue for Two is the ultimate date-night delight! Melted cheese, wine, and a hint of garlic create the perfect dip for bread, fruit, and veggies, turning dinner into a cozy, shared experience.

Ingredients

Scale

1 clove garlic, halved

1/2 cup dry white wine (such as Sauvignon Blanc)

1 tsp lemon juice

4 oz Gruyère cheese, shredded

4 oz Emmental or Swiss cheese, shredded

1 tsp cornstarch

1 tbsp kirsch (optional)

Freshly ground black pepper

Pinch of nutmeg

For dipping:

Cubed French bread or baguette

Apple slices

Steamed broccoli or cauliflower florets

Cherry tomatoes

Cooked baby potatoes

Instructions

1. Rub the inside of a small fondue pot or saucepan with the cut sides of the garlic, then discard the garlic.

2. Pour wine and lemon juice into the pot and heat over medium until just simmering.

3. In a bowl, toss the shredded cheeses with cornstarch.

4. Gradually add the cheese mixture to the simmering wine, stirring constantly in a figure-eight motion until melted and smooth.

5. Stir in kirsch (if using), black pepper, and nutmeg.

6. Adjust consistency with a splash of wine if too thick.

7. Transfer to a fondue pot set over low heat or a tealight to keep warm.

8. Serve immediately with your favorite dippers for a cozy date-night experience.

Notes

For best results, use freshly shredded cheese — pre-shredded tends to clump.

Add a splash of cream for extra richness.

If you prefer a non-alcoholic version, replace wine with low-sodium chicken broth and a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar.

Perfect for Valentine’s Day, anniversaries, or any romantic dinner at home!
