Ingredients
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 large egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 1/2 tsp red food coloring
24 milk chocolate kisses, unwrapped
1/4 cup granulated sugar (for rolling)
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
3. In another bowl, beat butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and creamy.
4. Add egg, vanilla extract, and red food coloring; mix until combined.
5. Gradually add dry ingredients and mix until dough forms.
6. Scoop 1-tablespoon portions and roll into balls.
7. Coat each ball in granulated sugar and place on the prepared baking sheets.
8. Bake for 8–10 minutes, until edges are set but centers are soft.
9. Immediately press a chocolate kiss into the center of each cookie.
10. Allow to cool on the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For an extra festive touch, use white chocolate or dark chocolate kisses.
Chill the dough for 15 minutes before baking for perfectly round cookies.
Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
