Description

A classic banana bread recipe that is moist, tender, and perfect for using up overripe bananas.


Ingredients

  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 1 cup mashed ripe bananas (about 3 very ripe bananas)
  • 0.5 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare the pan by greasing a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  3. Cream the butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each.
  5. Stir in the vanilla extract and mashed bananas.
  6. Combine the flour, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl.
  7. Mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
  8. Add nuts if desired.
  9. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
  10. Bake for 55–65 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  11. Cool the bread in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
