Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs to the butter-sugar mixture one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Mix in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
- In a small bowl, mix the cocoa powder with hot water to form a paste.
- Divide the prepared batter in half; mix one half with the chocolate paste.
- Pour spoonfuls of the vanilla batter into the prepared loaf pan, then layer with spoonfuls of the chocolate batter.
- Use a knife or skewer to swirl the batters together for a marbled effect.
- Bake for 50 to 60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
