Description

A comforting and flavorful pasta dish made in a slow cooker with ground beef, marinara sauce, and a blend of cheeses.


Ingredients

  • 1.25 lbs ground beef
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1/2 cup onion, diced
  • 5 cloves garlic, finely minced
  • 24 oz marinara sauce
  • 1.25 cups diced tomatoes
  • 1.5 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 3.5 cups water
  • 2 cups pasta (such as rotini or penne)
  • 3/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 3/4 cup Parmesan cheese, freshly grated

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until it shimmers. Add the ground beef to the pan and cook for about 5 minutes, breaking it up into small pieces until it’s browned.
  2. Toss in the diced onion and cook for 2-3 minutes until softened. Add minced garlic and cook for another 20 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Transfer the beef mixture to your slow cooker. Add marinara sauce, diced tomatoes, Italian seasoning, salt, black pepper, and water. Stir until well mixed.
  4. Cover the slow cooker and set it to medium heat. Cook for 4 hours.
  5. Add dry pasta, heavy cream, and half of the mozzarella cheese. Break up any clumps of pasta.
  6. Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese over the pasta. Cover and cook for an additional hour until cheese is melted and bubbly.

Notes

Serve with a side salad or crusty bread. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days or freeze for up to 2-3 months.
