Chocolate Loaf Cake:

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

3/4 cup granulated sugar

1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp baking soda

1/2 tsp salt

2 large eggs

1/2 cup milk

1/3 cup vegetable oil

1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a small baking pan.

2. In a bowl, mix all ingredients for the chocolate heart insert until smooth.

3. Bake in the prepared pan for 15–18 minutes until set.

4. Cool completely, then cut cake into heart shapes using a cookie cutter.

5. Grease and line a 9×5-inch loaf pan.

6. Stand heart cutouts upright in a row down the center of the loaf pan.

7. In a bowl, whisk together loaf cake dry ingredients.

8. Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla; mix until smooth.

9. Carefully pour batter around and over the heart shapes, fully covering them.

10. Bake for 45–50 minutes until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.

11. Cool completely before slicing to reveal the hidden heart.

Notes

Let the heart insert cool fully before cutting shapes.

Pour batter gently to keep hearts upright.

Dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with glaze for extra flair.
