2/3 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg yolk
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup strawberry, raspberry, or cherry jam
Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
Instructions

2. In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
3. Add egg yolk and vanilla extract, mixing until combined.
4. Gradually add flour and salt, mixing until dough forms.
5. Roll dough into 1-inch balls and place on the prepared baking sheet.
6. Use your thumb or the back of a small spoon to press two indents at an angle to form a heart shape.
7. Fill each heart center with a small amount of jam.
8. Bake for 12–14 minutes, until edges are lightly golden.
9. Cool completely on a wire rack.
10. Dust with powdered sugar before serving, if desired.
Notes
For neat hearts, chill the dough for 15 minutes before shaping.
Use different jams for a colorful cookie platter — strawberry, apricot, and blueberry look stunning together.
