Description

Buttery, delicate, and filled with sweet jam — these Heart Jam Cookies are the perfect combination of charm and flavor! With their adorable cut-out centers and melt-in-your-mouth texture, they’re the ultimate treat for Valentine’s Day or any special occasion.

Ingredients

Scale

2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 tsp baking powder

1/4 tsp salt

3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened

3/4 cup granulated sugar

1 large egg

1 tsp vanilla extract

1/2 tsp almond extract (optional)

1/2 cup strawberry or raspberry jam

Powdered sugar for dusting

Heart-shaped cookie cutters (one large, one small)

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.

2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.

3. In another bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

4. Add egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract, mixing until combined.

5. Gradually add dry ingredients, stirring until dough forms.

6. Divide dough in half, flatten into disks, wrap in plastic, and chill for 30 minutes.

7. Roll out dough on a lightly floured surface to 1/8-inch thickness.

8. Cut out cookies using a large heart cutter. For half of the cookies, cut out smaller hearts in the center.

9. Place cookies on baking sheets and bake for 8–10 minutes, until lightly golden.

10. Cool completely on a wire rack.

11. Spread jam over the solid heart cookies, then top with the cut-out cookies to form sandwiches.

12. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

Use seedless jam for a smooth filling and vibrant color.

Experiment with different jam flavors like apricot, cherry, or blueberry.

Chilling the dough helps maintain clean cookie shapes while baking.

Perfect for gifting, tea parties, or romantic dessert platters!
