Description
A delightful twist on a classic American dish that combines the comforting flavors of Sloppy Joes with the crunch of garlic bread.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 slices of garlic bread
- Cheddar cheese, shredded (optional)
Instructions
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and onion together. Use a spatula to break the beef apart as it cooks. Cook until the beef is browned and the onion is soft, about 5-7 minutes.
- Once the beef is cooked, drain the excess fat, leaving just a little bit to keep everything juicy.
- Add the minced garlic to the skillet and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
- Stir in the ketchup and Worcestershire sauce, adding salt and pepper to taste. Let it simmer for about 5-10 minutes.
- While the beef mixture simmers, preheat the oven according to the garlic bread packaging instructions and toast the garlic bread until crispy and golden brown, about 5-8 minutes.
- To serve, grab a slice of garlic bread, place a generous amount of the beef mixture on top, sprinkle with shredded cheese if desired, and add another slice of garlic bread on top.
Notes
For variations, consider adding bell peppers or mushrooms, or make a vegetarian version using lentils or a meat substitute.
