Description

A delightful and simple dessert combining the flavors of German chocolate cake with a rich coconut-pecan topping.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box chocolate cake mix
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 can (12 oz) evaporated milk
  • 1 cup sweetened shredded coconut
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup chocolate frosting

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven according to the instructions on the cake mix box.
  2. Prepare your cake pan by greasing it; a 9×13 inch pan is recommended.
  3. Mix together the chocolate cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs until smooth.
  4. Bake the cake as directed on the box, usually for about 25-30 minutes, checking for doneness with a toothpick.
  5. Poke holes using the handle of a wooden spoon while the cake is still warm.
  6. Make the topping by combining evaporated milk, sugar, shredded coconut, and chopped pecans, cooking until thickened.
  7. Add the coconut-pecan topping over the warm cake to allow it to seep in.
  8. Cool the cake completely before spreading chocolate frosting on top.
  9. Chill the cake in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour before serving.
  10. Enjoy each slice of this decadent dessert!

Notes
