Instructions
- Cook the penne pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and reserve 1 cup of pasta water.
- Sauté the onion and garlic in olive oil over medium heat for about 5 minutes until fragrant and translucent.
- Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it apart, for about 7 minutes until browned. Season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
- Make the sauce by lowering the heat, stirring in heavy cream and gradually adding reserved pasta water until desired consistency. Mix in Parmesan cheese until melted.
- Combine the cooked pasta with the sauce, tossing to coat evenly.
- Serve hot, garnished with Parmesan cheese or fresh parsley if desired.
