Description
A warm, comforting dessert made with ripe bananas and stale bread, perfect for breakfast, brunch, or an after-dinner treat.
Ingredients

- 5 ripe bananas
- 4 cups of bread cubes (preferably stale or day-old)
- 2 cups of whole milk
- 1 cup of heavy cream
- 3/4 cup of sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Mash the bananas in a large bowl until smooth.
- Add the bread cubes to the mashed bananas and stir to coat.
- In another bowl, whisk together the milk, cream, sugar, eggs, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
- Pour the custard mixture over the bread and bananas, then stir gently.
- Let the mixture sit for 10 minutes.
- Grease a baking dish and transfer the mixture into it.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes until set and golden.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Serve warm with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. Can be stored in an airtight container for 3-4 days.
