Description

A delightful dessert combining rich chocolate, coffee, and Guinness beer, perfect for special occasions.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup Guinness beer
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 8 oz semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon instant espresso powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare two 9-inch round cake pans by greasing and flouring them.
  3. Simmer the Guinness and butter in a saucepan over medium heat until it comes to a simmer.
  4. Whisk in the cocoa powder until smooth.
  5. Combine the dry ingredients (flour, sugar, baking soda, salt) in a mixing bowl.
  6. Mix the warm Guinness mixture with the dry ingredients, adding eggs, sour cream, and vanilla extract.
  7. Divide the batter evenly between the cake pans and Bake for 30-35 minutes.
  8. Cool the cakes in the pans for 10 minutes, then turn them out to cool completely on wire racks.
  9. Make the ganache by heating the heavy cream and pouring it over the chocolate and espresso powder. Stir until smooth.
  10. Level the cakes if necessary, then Layer with ganache between and on top of the cakes.
  11. Serve sliced and enjoy!

Notes

Serve at room temperature. Garnish with berries or powdered sugar. Pair with whipped cream or ice cream.
