  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter (melted and cooled)
  • Additional cheese for topping (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Cook the ground breakfast sausage in a skillet over medium heat until fully cooked and crumbled.
  3. Drain excess grease from the sausage on a paper towel.
  4. Whisk the flour, baking powder, salt, and maple syrup together in a large mixing bowl.
  5. Incorporate the crumbled sausage and grated cheddar into the dry mixture.
  6. Whisk together milk, egg, and remaining maple syrup in a separate bowl.
  7. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and mix gently.
  8. Add melted and cooled butter to the mixture and stir until just combined.
