Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Cook the ground breakfast sausage in a skillet over medium heat until fully cooked and crumbled.
- Drain excess grease from the sausage on a paper towel.
- Whisk the flour, baking powder, salt, and maple syrup together in a large mixing bowl.
- Incorporate the crumbled sausage and grated cheddar into the dry mixture.
- Whisk together milk, egg, and remaining maple syrup in a separate bowl.
- Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and mix gently.
- Add melted and cooled butter to the mixture and stir until just combined.
- Grease muffin tins and fill each cup generously with batter.
- Bake for 18 to 20 minutes, testing with a toothpick for doneness.
- Cool the muffins in the tin for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
