Description

A delicious combination of cheesesteaks and garlic bread, this stuffed loaf is perfect for cozy dinners or game day snacks.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large loaf of Italian or French bread
  • 1 lb thinly sliced beef (like ribeye or sirloin)
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 1 medium green bell pepper, sliced
  • 2 cups provolone or mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 4 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: hot sauce for serving
  • Optional: freshly chopped parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a small bowl, mix the softened butter with minced garlic.
  3. Heat a skillet over medium heat and sauté sliced onions and green bell peppers until soft, about 5 minutes.
  4. Add the beef to the skillet, season with salt and pepper, and cook until browned, about 4 to 6 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat, stir in 1.5 cups of shredded cheese until melted and combine with vegetables.
  6. Slice the bread in half lengthwise to create a pocket.
  7. Spread garlic butter on both halves of the bread.
  8. Place the cheesesteak mixture on one half, sprinkle with remaining cheese, and close with the other half.
  9. Wrap the loaf in aluminum foil and bake for 15-20 minutes.
  10. Unwrap and bake for an additional 5 minutes to crisp the bread.
  11. Let cool before slicing and serve warm with parsley and hot sauce if desired.
