Description

Delicious cheese pastries with a flaky crust and a rich filling of feta and mozzarella, perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup yogurt
  • 1/4 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup water (as needed)
  • 1 cup feta cheese, crumbled
  • 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, salt, sugar, and baking powder. Stir them together to evenly distribute the dry ingredients.
  3. Incorporate the yogurt and softened butter into the flour mixture until crumbly.
  4. Gradually add water until the dough comes together without being too sticky. Knead until smooth for about 5 minutes.
  5. Cover and let the dough rest for 30 minutes.
  6. Prepare the filling by combining the feta, mozzarella, and parsley in a bowl.
  7. Roll out the dough to about 1/8-inch thick and cut into circles.
  8. Place a tablespoon of cheese filling on each circle and fold over to shape.
  9. Seal the edges and crimp them.
  10. Brush tops with egg wash and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  11. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  12. Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Best served warm, optionally with yogurt or a dipping sauce. Can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days or frozen for 2 months.
