Description
A delightful twist on classic French toast using flaky, buttery croissants for a luxurious breakfast experience.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 large croissants
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- Butter (for frying)
- Maple syrup (for serving)
- Powdered sugar (optional, for dusting)
Instructions
- Slice the croissants: Start by slicing each croissant in half lengthwise. Set them aside for later.
- Mix the batter: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, sugar, and cinnamon until all the ingredients are well combined.
- Prepare the skillet: Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat and add a generous amount of butter.
- Soak the croissants: Take one half of a croissant, dip it into the egg mixture, and allow it to soak for a few seconds on each side.
- Cook the croissants: Carefully place the soaked croissant halves in the skillet. Cook until they are golden brown, which takes about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Serve warm: Once cooked, serve the buttery croissant French toast warm, drizzled with maple syrup and dusted with powdered sugar if desired.
Notes
Best served warm. For added indulgence, pair with whipped cream or fresh berries.
