Description
These Brown Butter Cookies are irresistibly nutty, chewy, and rich — the perfect combination of caramelized butter flavor and melt-in-your-mouth texture. Once you try them, you’ll never go back to regular cookies again!
Ingredients
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
1 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
2 tsp vanilla extract
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp cinnamon (optional)
1 cup chocolate chips or chunks
Flaky sea salt for topping
Instructions
1. In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Continue cooking, stirring frequently, until it turns golden brown and smells nutty, about 5–7 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool for 10 minutes.
2. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
3. In a large bowl, whisk together brown sugar, granulated sugar, and cooled brown butter until smooth.
4. Add eggs and vanilla extract, whisking until fully combined.
5. In a separate bowl, mix flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
6. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
7. Fold in chocolate chips.
8. Scoop dough into balls (about 2 tablespoons each) and place on prepared baking sheets.
9. Sprinkle lightly with flaky sea salt.
10. Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until edges are golden and centers are soft.
11. Let cookies cool on the pan for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
Chill dough for 30 minutes for extra chewy cookies.
Add toasted pecans or white chocolate chips for variety.
Brown butter can be made ahead and stored in the fridge for up to 1 week.
