Description

Ingredients

  • 2 cups blackberries
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine blackberries with 1/2 cup of sugar and set aside.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and remaining sugar.
  4. Stir in milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract into the dry mix.
  5. Pour the batter into a greased baking dish and top with the blackberry mixture.
  6. Bake for 45-50 minutes until golden brown and set in the middle.
  7. Let cool slightly and serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

For a rustic presentation, bake in a cast-iron skillet. You can also adjust sweetness based on the tartness of blackberries.
