Description

This Beef Stroganoff is the ultimate family dinner — tender strips of beef in a rich, creamy mushroom sauce served over noodles or rice. With these classic and modern twists, your family will be wowed by how comforting and delicious it is!

Ingredients

Scale

1 lb beef sirloin or tenderloin, thinly sliced

2 tbsp olive oil or butter

1 small onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

8 oz mushrooms, sliced

1 tbsp all-purpose flour

1 cup beef broth

1 tbsp Dijon mustard

1/2 cup sour cream

1/2 cup heavy cream (optional for richness)

1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

12 oz egg noodles, cooked

Instructions

1. Season beef with salt and pepper.

2. Heat 1 tbsp oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add beef in batches and sear for 1–2 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.

3. Add remaining oil to the skillet, then sauté onions for 2–3 minutes until softened.

4. Add mushrooms and cook until browned and any liquid evaporates.

5. Stir in garlic and cook for 30 seconds.

6. Sprinkle flour over the mixture and stir for 1 minute.

7. Gradually pour in beef broth while stirring to avoid lumps.

8. Add Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and simmer for 5 minutes until thickened.

9. Lower heat and stir in sour cream and cream (if using). Do not boil.

10. Return beef to the pan and cook gently for 2–3 minutes until heated through.

11. Serve hot over egg noodles and garnish with parsley.

Notes

For extra tenderness, use high-quality cuts like sirloin or ribeye.

Add a splash of white wine for depth of flavor.

Use Greek yogurt instead of sour cream for a lighter version.

Try it with chicken, pork, or mushrooms for variation.

Leftovers taste even better the next day — perfect for busy weeknights!
