- 1 cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup light brown sugar, packed
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 ripe bananas, mashed (about 1 cup)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- ½ tsp baking powder
- ¼ tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp ground cinnamon (optional)
- ½ cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
- ¼ cup unsalted butter (for glaze)
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tbsp milk or heavy cream
- ½ tsp vanilla extract (for glaze)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line a 9×9-inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk melted butter, granulated sugar, and light brown sugar until smooth.
- Beat in eggs and vanilla extract, then stir in mashed bananas until combined.
- In a separate bowl, mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and optional cinnamon. Fold into the banana mixture until just combined.
- If desired, fold in chopped nuts.
- Spread batter in prepared pan. Bake for 25-30 minutes; check for doneness with a toothpick.
- For the glaze, melt butter in a saucepan. Whisk in powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
- Pour glaze over brownies while warm. Let cool completely before slicing.
Notes
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for 3-4 days or refrigerate for about a week. Can be frozen for up to three months.
