Description

Deliciously moist brownies that combine the flavors of banana bread and fudgy brownies, perfect for dessert or snacks.


Ingredients

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 ripe bananas, mashed (about 1 cup)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon (optional)
  • ½ cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter (for glaze)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp milk or heavy cream
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line a 9×9-inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk melted butter, granulated sugar, and light brown sugar until smooth.
  3. Beat in eggs and vanilla extract, then stir in mashed bananas until combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and optional cinnamon. Fold into the banana mixture until just combined.
  5. If desired, fold in chopped nuts.
  6. Spread batter in prepared pan. Bake for 25-30 minutes; check for doneness with a toothpick.
  7. For the glaze, melt butter in a saucepan. Whisk in powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
  8. Pour glaze over brownies while warm. Let cool completely before slicing.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for 3-4 days or refrigerate for about a week. Can be frozen for up to three months.
