Description

Deliciously moist and chewy Banana Bread Brownies that combine the sweetness of ripe bananas with rich chocolate and optional walnuts.


Ingredients

  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter, melted and lightly browned
  • 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup mashed ripe bananas (about 2 medium)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips or chopped walnuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare an 8×8-inch baking pan by greasing it and lining it with parchment paper.
  3. Mix the melted butter and brown sugar in a large bowl until smooth.
  4. Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing well, then stir in the mashed bananas.
  5. Gently fold in the flour, salt, and cinnamon until no dry streaks remain.
  6. Add the chocolate chips or walnuts if using, and fold them into the batter.
  7. Spread the batter into the prepared baking pan.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes until the edges are set and a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs.
  9. Cool completely in the pan on a wire rack before slicing into bars.

Notes

For a nut-free version, simply omit the walnuts. You can also substitute gluten-free flour for a gluten-free option.
